Dr. Alexander Herwix is a postdoctoral researcher (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Cologne Center for Information Systems (CIIS), University of Cologne. He is responsible for teaching the module "Ethical Issues in Information Systems" in the B.Sc. Wirtschaftsinformatik program.
Dr. Herwix's research lies at the intersection of responsible innovation, sustainability, and education. He employs a variety of research methods, with a focus on qualitative and design-oriented approaches, aiming to make a positive impact on society and nature at large. His work strengthens the work on the ethical and responsibility dimensions of the digital transformation done at the CIIS.
With a doctoral degree in Information Systems from the University of Cologne, Dr. Herwix brings a rich background in information systems research. His thesis, "Toward a Responsible Design Science Research Ecosystem for the Digital Age: A Critical Pragmatist Perspective," reflects his commitment to advancing responsible practices in the field.
Dr. Herwix also holds a position at the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI) at the University of Gothenburg, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange. His diverse experience includes co-founding research-led transdisciplinary initiatives and supervising numerous undergraduate and graduate theses.
